High Fashion Moment
The Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum opened on June 7th 2011 in Getaria, Gipuzkoa, and is the first great museum in the world dedicated exclusively to a couturier. Its mission is to promote and showcase the contribution that the figure and the body of work of the brilliant designer made to artistic creation in general, and specifically to the world of fashion and haute couture.
The museum houses the most substantial collection of creations by Cristóbal Balenciaga in the world, both in terms of the number and quality of the pieces and the time span they represent.
In addition to the pieces on rotation from the collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions linked to fashion and to education and leisure activities.
